Victorian Taxi Reform Update

Victorian taxi reform update regarding the current reforms to the Victorian Taxi industry and the likely date of implementation.

 

1.

The TSC prepare for the payment of Transition Assistance.  The TSC have now commenced this work so payments can be made following the final passage of the reform legislation through Parliament.The Government has determined that licence holders that held licences between 15 August 2016 and 14 July 2017 will be eligible for transition assistance payments as outlined here.

2.

The Commercial Passenger Vehicle Industry Bill 2017 passes Parliament

Likely mid-August

 

 

 

3.

TSC prepares and sends transition assistance payments to licence holders in a single lump-sum cheque

Likely late-August/early September

 

 

 

4.

Minister proclaims a date for licensing changes to come in to effect

Likely September

 

 

 

5.

Licence conversions - all operators of existing taxis and hire cars will be issued with new licence certificates.

No changes will be made to number plates. Operators will not be required to pay anything at this time. The new annual fee for taxi or hire car licences will need to be paid upon renewal of these licences in 12 months. This fee is not yet known.
